I'm going to be learning on how to model rig and animate for CoD4 and WaW but I don't know what version of maya I will need that will be compatible with the CoD plugins... Anyone know what version of maya I will need and any good tutorials or suggestions that will help me learn?

lot of people say maya 8.5 (2012) works best

Yeah, Maya 8.5 has most support (a lot of tools are just made for it)

I recommend 2012, easy to use and the cod tools can work on it too. I've been using it for 5 years. Never had issues with it. You can 2016 aswell. It works too.

all maya version is good but 8.5 is recommended
