extremely weird fps issue - Posted on 15-09-2012 01:54

So I recently got a GTX 550Ti graphics card, my last card was the shitty ATI Radeon 3000, and I thought it was awesome because I could play cod4 at medium to high settings at constant 125fps! However, I tried changing the settings in the game to see the maximum fps possible, so I lowered everything, and turned on fullbright, and when I checked the fps, it was still the same fps I had at my regular settings (com_maxfps is not the problem) it was fluctuating between 100-200fps like it did before I turned down the settings. I then tried it at maximum settings and got an even stranger result, it was stuck at 60fps as if com_maxfps was set to 60, even though it wasn't! It won't go higher or lower than 60 just like on the console version. I've tried several configs but still, nothing's changed! This makes no sense to me whatsoever and i'm curious as to what's going on.

You guys aren't getting this! My problem isn't to get more fps like 250, i'm happy with constant 125. I just want to know why the fps won't increase, and why is it stuck at 60fps at maximum settings?

No thanks to any of you, I figured out the problem. I had "sync every frame" turned on, so the fps changed to my screen refresh rate, which was 60, that's why it was stuck at 60fps.

Is your config_mp.cfg set to "read only"? I believe I had this problem before, and I fixed it by unchecking that. Not sure, but you can always try!

Ah, we must've been typing at the same time then. Only use VSync when your screen flickrs smiley Glad you found the solution!

What is your CPU? Maybe you have a bottleneck.

I think I might know the issue, go to your graphics settings and make sure 'Sync every frame' isn't selected
