Ok, so I was playing on a friends PC who has a 1280x1024 monitor I set the res to 1280x768 and it went to widescreen but there were black gaps between the top half of the monitor and cod4 but still, I could play like it was on a widescreen monitor the crosshairs were wider the guns were also wider, then I came home to my pc tried it and it didnt work I can only play like that with r_fullscreen 0 but the crosshairs are the same they are still square. If anyone knows how to get it widescreen without using r_fullscreen 0 please help

I did... then the cod4 screen is like squed not even in the center :/

use the Overscan option in ur GPU settings (doesnt matter if its a NVIDIA or ATI)

Try to press AUTO/SET button on your monitor and then change your aspect ratio.. If you dont have 16:9 monitor i recommend you to use 16:10.
