i am trying to change the scope overlay, but everytime i save the .dds with photoshop and convert it into .iwi again, the black turns pruple. the alpha is being saved, but not the "black" part, it changes into purple. i already tried to play around with the settings when saving, but nothing worked.

this is how it looks:

This looks like normal map with blending. Try reset options in DDS plugin and save as DXT5 with Alpha channel. It's more like A8R8G8B8

I'm sure there was "Reset" button.
Anyway, try this plugin. I have found it works a bit better with new DirectX textures like in Ghosts, AW, IW, MWR etc.
Intel Texture Works plugin. And it has a bit more user friendly interface.
